In Short: Lumendi has hired 2 additional key members to further strengthen its team.
Jim and Yukio will help us in getting DiLumen product(s) for minimally-invasive endolumenal surgery faster to market.

As you may know, early in December we received our 510 (k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market and sell DiLumen. This allows us to move forward right on schedule.

However, in order to facilitate our work and ramp up sales, we needed to enlarge our team. Additionally, we wanted to get additional human capital. By strengthening our team with more talent we will be better placed to execute our strategy.

We are glad to report here that we have succeeded in having James Soares (VP Sales) and Yukio Nakajima, Sr. Director Business Development join our management team.

James Soares, VP Sales

Jim is a senior sales executive with over 35 years of experience in medical devices. A major part of his career has focused on work in the area of Gastroenterology and Surgery. J

Jim spent the last 27 years at Olympus in various senior commercial positions, most recently as the:

  • Regional Vice President, Surgical Imaging.

He has held positions of Regional Vice President Sales, Area Vice President Sales, National Director Sales and Executive Director Marketing.

Early on in his career Jim worked at Kendall Healthcare (Medtronic Covidien) and Johnson & Johnson.

Jim has extensive commercial experience in bringing new products to market. Most important for us is that Jim has an excellent track record in delivering results and reaching targets on time.

Jim received a Bachelor of Science degree from Rhode Island College, Providence, RI and an MBA (honors) from Bryant University, Smithfield, RI.

Jim joined Lumendi December 2, 2016.

Yukio Nakajima, Sr. Director Business Development

Yukio is a senior executive with over 30 years of experience in medical devices particularly in the field of GI, MIS, ENT, respiratory, urology, gynecology and neurosurgery.

Yukio recently served as a Managing Director of YUKIO Advisors LLC. The latter is a medical device consulting company assisting small to large medical device companies, doctors, and societies regarding new business development. It also provides support regarding strategic and business planning.

Most of his career happened with:

  • Olympus, being involved with new business and product development as well as product launches.

Yukio is also experienced in leading cross-functional product development teams. He has much experience in strengthening relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs).

His cross-cultural experience is based on a business career that has spanned several decades of working  in the US, Europe and Japan.

Yukio earned his Bachelor in Engineering from Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan.

After working for us as an outside consultant for 9 months, we liked Yukio’s work so much, we offered him a full-time position.

We are glad to report that he accepted our offer. Yukio joined us full-time on January 1st, 2017.

      Thanks so much for the praise regarding our 510(k) clearance. Yes it was surprisingly fast and maybe we were lucky and the stars. But seriously, it was a lot of work for all of us.

      Maybe we were lucky as well. For instance, we had a team in place whose experience in getting clearance and FDA approval is exceptional. Most certainly for this size of enterprise.

      Your praise regarding our communication regarding our progress I take with pride. It is not always easy to do it appropriately. Everybody has plenty on his or her plate. Having somebody like myself then nagging for material, pictures, facts, etc. is not always appreciated. Understandably 🙂

      But we will try to assure a highly successful market launch of our DiLumen product in the near future.
      Of course, continuing to communicate in a style and fashion that interests our target audience like yourself remains a challenge. Nevertheless, we will do our best to satisfy you and those interested in our progress.
