Last year’s United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Week was held in Vienna (see our blog report). This year, the week-long conference was organised for October 19-23, 2019, at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain. The World Endoscopy Association describes the event as follows:
UEG Week is the largest and most prestigious GI meeting in Europe. It combines world class scientific research, invited lectures by leading minds in gastroenterology and an excellent Postgraduate Teaching Programme.
Here we provide you with a short summary about UEG, an event of interest to both gastroenterologists and doctors in related fields.
Lumendi expert session
Lumendi organised a session for experts hosted by Izasa Hospital, our distribution partner in Spain. As the invitation to the meeting shows (above), we had several experts presenting their findings and insights on using our products to their peers with the general focus being on, “Addressing the challenge of difficult polyps in the large intestine.”
More than 50 gastroenterologists attended this event. Just as a reminder, gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. During our session, attendees were given the opportunity to learn more about the advantages of our DiLumen products and how they help in treating diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract.
With a simulator (prepared pig intestine) the participants could try out the demanding ESD technique with DiLumen +DR themselves and practice the polyp removal. The crowd was big, in the 3 sessions not all interested people could try out the simulator.
Lumendi made the contacts and we will afterwards visit the potential customers. The cooperation with the European distribution partners was excellent. Especially at an international congress it is important that interested doctors get to know their sales organisation in their own country. Thus, representatives of our distribution partners from England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany were constantly at the Lumendi stand and could support the product presentations, also in the national language.
We also shone a spotlight on the DiLumen+DR Dynamic Retraction System. It is the first system that allows for precise gripping and dissection. This improves mobility, and also provides continuous tissue tension. During this expert session, attendees were shown how the DiLumen +DR Dynamic Retraction System could be used during a procedure.
By the way, in October a 62-year-old male patient had a large complex sigmoid polyp successfully removed in a 60-minute procedure without surgical intervention using DiLumen C2! Read about it in our press release: Cleveland Clinic using DiLumen C2.
What is your opinion?
Your opinion matters to us. What are your thoughts?
- Did you attend UEG Week in 2017, 2018, or 2019?
- Will we be seeing you at UEGWeek 2020?
We are glad to hear from you and look forward to seeing you at #UEGWeek 2020, also known as the United European Gastroenterology 28th Annual Congress in Amsterdam, 10-14 October 2020.
